Elizabeth Benyi
Candidate for Co-op Board of Directors
Graduate of MSU 1977 with B.S.M.T. and worked a number of years as a Medical Technologist until going to medical school in Des Moines, Iowa. After finishing internship and residency training, I began my career as a General Surgeon and Trauma Surgeon. I practiced at Baraga County Memorial for 10 years and then Aspirus Keweenaw for 8 years before retiring after 25 years of acute surgical care. I have served on 2 hospital boards and a condominium board.

Explain why you would like to serve as a member on the Co-op’s Board of Directors:
I think it is important the role that Keweenaw Co-op plays in the community to provide fresh wholesome food in a region that is lacking in good food choices. I believe in the Co-op mission.
Do you have particular skills you would like to explore and share in your service on the Board of Directors?
I am a very good team player and able to finish tasks in a timely manner. I am not afraid to ask if I do not know something. I have good people skills. I have served on 2 hospital boards and am currently serving on a Condo board.
